Voluma®, Vollure®, & Botox®

Traditional lower eyelid surgery reduces the bags but involves the risks and downtime of surgery. It can also leave a flattened look to the eyes. Instead of surgery, Dr. Loomis now carefully places either fat grafts, or a long-lasting filler around the grooves of the lower lids, which can provide a more youthful, natural-appearing look. These liquid eye lift treatments rejuvenate and/or enhance facial features while avoiding a pulled, artificial look. The treatments are done in the office and require only local anesthesia.

By replacing the lost volume of the central face, especially around the eyes, we can restore a more natural appearance of youth while improving distracting signs of old age, such as grooves and bags beneath the eyes.  This is often combined with more traditional uses of fillers around the mouth to soften fine lines.

Dr. Loomis shares, “When it comes to restoring a more youthful appearance to the eyes, I feel the results of my Liquid Lifts can meet and even surpass those of the surgical lifts that I have performed for decades.”

Voluma® and Vollure® Liquid Lifts

Liquid Lifts with Voluma® or Vollure® are our preferred method of treating age-related volume loss around the eyes, midface and cheek. Voluma® is optimized for lifting in the upper face, lasting up to two years in the FDA study.  Vollure® is a similar lifting filler that is softer for subtler areas, lasting up to eighteen months. Rather than fill lines, these powerful tools help us lift and restore youthful fullness.

Voluma® and Vollure® address some aging concerns that simple tightening of the skin does not help, such as grooves and hollows. It can provide a more natural rejuvenation to the face, avoiding some of the pulled looks we sometimes see after traditional surgical lifts.

Early in the aging process, many women begin to notice a groove in the front of the cheek that runs up towards the under eye. This groove, together with a hollowness beneath the cheekbone, is a subtle but powerful sign of aging.  Our Liquid Lifts can lessen that sign of aging.

Before your visit

Other than stopping blood thinners like Advil®, Motrin®, and omega 3 supplements for one week beforehand, there’s nothing else you need to do in preparation.

What to expect

Dr. Loomis will spend about an hour slowly and gently placing the filler into very specific areas through one or two injection points.  Afterward, you use a gel ice pack off and on for the modest swelling that may occur.  The injection sites will be covered with small tapes that you need to leave in place for 48 hours.  This means no makeup, moisturizers or any other creams at these sites for two days.  If this is a problem with work or social engagements, be sure to schedule your treatment date accordingly.  We take photographs in three to six weeks so you can see your results side-by-side.

Is it safe?

Safety is a big concern with all fillers, but especially with a filler used anywhere near the eyes. Dr Loomis shares, “I prefer a cannula when injecting deeply on the face, both for accurate placement and safety. As with any filler, risks also include infection, irregularities, and swelling. Dr. Loomis will review all the goals, limitations, and risks with you during an individualized consultation. All the fillers we currently use are hyaluronic acid-based, which means we can dissolve the product if needed or desired with hyaluronidase, an enzyme injection we can perform in the office. With gentle, precise placement, most patients note minimal to no discomfort during the procedure. Next to safety, the aesthetics of the injection are the most important factor. I spend as much time analyzing your facial contours as I do injecting the filler. As I recommend with all cosmetic procedures, check out your injector’s certification. Also evaluate their artistic and aesthetic eye by reviewing their previous results.”

Is it safe?

Dr. Loomis has been doing Botox® injections since 1996. Since that time, the FDA has formally approved Botox® for cosmetic uses and it is considered extremely safe, though there have been rare reports of the distant spread of Botox®.  As with everything, experience, knowledge, and technique matter.  Even though it may seem like Botox® “centers” are as common as coffee shops, one should always check the qualifications of the physician in charge before undergoing this or any other medical treatment.

Botox® injections are usually about $300 for a typical treatment of the frown lines, with additional areas requiring more.

Sometimes we may use a combination of therapies: Kybella® to reduce double chin fat, Juvederm® to correct hollowing of the cheeks, and Voluma® for the under eye areas. See what we can do for you when you get your free consultation!
